“The voice is a weapon in a modern society where everything is set to dim our light, to undermine, to make us feel small. Taking back the full sovereign heritage of the voice, as a form of self-expression, is the best form of revolution in our day and age.”
Assea
About
From silence to sovereignty.
I go by the name Assea. As a child I lived with vocal inhibitions that made freely expressing myself a hard task for my nervous system. It kept me isolated: I was the one who wished he spoke more, while everyone assumed I stayed quiet on purpose.
So I built strength everywhere else. As a French native I taught myself fluent English in three years, believing it would open the doors my own voice couldn't. Football gave me presence; martial arts gave me discipline and an identity. But in a real conversation, introducing myself, saying what I truly meant, I would freeze. Every skill I built was a way around my voice, never through it.
Then dance changed everything. Martial arts had made my expression rigid, built for confrontation, so I went looking for something softer, a way to connect rather than dominate. Dancing brought me back to my soft side and taught me receptivity: a good dancer is a good listener, moving not from thought but from what the body feels in the moment. That quality of presence reaches far beyond the dance floor.
This is how I turned my own poison into medicine. I believe everyone has a gift, and the first step to conveying it is self-expression. When we fully own our voice, we present ourselves authentically to the world, and we are received and met for who we truly are. No curating, no editing, no feeling like we don't matter. That is the work I now do with the people I coach.
The Work
Expression is more than a voice.
Owning your voice is the doorway, the first layer. Meeting the world takes all three.
-
Voice
The instrument. We free the sound of who you are: breath, tone, and the words you've been holding back, until speaking feels like ground you own.
-
Mind
The framework. Through parts work we meet the inner voices that learned to edit you before the world could hear you, and bring them into one clear, whole self.
-
Body
The home. Your nervous system holds every response it never got to finish. Somatic practice and dance let expression move through the whole body, so presence becomes something you inhabit, not perform. A good dancer is a good listener, and the body always knows the next move.
Informed by parts work (Internal Family Systems) and Somatic Experiencing.
The Method
Presence. Delivery. Silence.
The three steps Assea brings to every conversation that matters: a practice for speaking from the heart and being truly received, honed as much on the dance floor as in conversation.
-
Presence
Stillness first. When the nervous system flares, connecting with the breath brings you back into the present, gathering the scattered mind and the fragmented parts of yourself into one unit.
-
Delivery
From presence, you speak with your heart. Slow, deliberate expression, free of the mind's interference, so the other person can feel into your words, not just hear them.
-
Silence
Then leave the room for what you've conveyed to be received. Expression completes itself in the space you hold after speaking.
